Email Forwarding
Turn emails into structured product ideas
Growth Plan Feature
Email Forwarding is available on the Growth plan and above. Forward customer emails, support tickets, or internal notes to your workspace and let AI convert them into ideas.

Feature requests and product feedback often arrive buried in email threads — from customers, sales reps, support agents, and executives. Email Forwarding lets you capture those ideas without leaving your inbox. Forward any email to your workspace address and IdeaLift converts it into a structured, categorized idea.
No plugins, no browser extensions, no copy-paste. Just forward the email and move on.
Your Workspace Email Address
Every IdeaLift workspace gets a unique email address for receiving forwarded feedback:
[email protected]Find your exact address in Settings → Email Forwarding. You can copy it with one click and share it with your team.
Tip: Add your workspace email to your email contacts so it's always a quick forward away. Some teams create a shared contact group so everyone has it at their fingertips.
Forwarding Emails
1Forward from Any Email Client
Simply forward any email to your workspace address from Gmail, Outlook, Apple Mail, or any other email client. No special formatting required.
2Add Context (Optional)
When forwarding, you can add a note above the original email. This note is preserved as additional context on the idea. Use it to add urgency, customer name, or deal size.
3Set Up Auto-Forwarding Rules
For automated capture, set up forwarding rules in your email provider. For example, auto-forward all emails sent to [email protected] to your IdeaLift workspace address.
What Gets Captured
IdeaLift's AI parses the email and extracts the following:
Note: If a single email contains multiple distinct feature requests, IdeaLift may create separate ideas for each one, keeping your backlog clean and actionable.
Auto-Categorization
Forwarded emails are automatically processed by IdeaLift's AI pipeline:
- •Category assignment — AI assigns the idea to the best-matching category (feature request, bug report, UX issue, etc.)
- •Tag suggestions — Relevant tags are suggested based on the email content
- •Duplicate detection — If a similar idea already exists, IdeaLift links them rather than creating a duplicate
- •Customer matching — If the original sender matches a known customer, the idea is automatically attributed
Best Practices
- 💡Share the workspace email address with your entire team — sales, support, and CS reps all hear feedback
- 💡Add a forwarding note with customer name and deal size for better signal scoring
- 💡Set up auto-forwarding from your support inbox to capture feedback continuously
- 💡Review email-sourced ideas weekly — AI categorization is good, but a human review ensures accuracy
